I believe this is the default setting. This option literally creates a new document that shows all of the changes. You can do a File > Save As of this document and save it as a permanent comparison of the two documents. When attempting to merge two similar documents from within Word:Mac 2011 I can only get one to overwrite and replace the other. Both documents can be seen separately by viewing either Final showing markup or viewing Original showing markup. However no merging seems to be taking place. Items added in the latest edited document are not present in the 'Final', etc. Flow example: Document A is old and identified in the merge window and the original. Document B is similar, newer and identified as revised document. Creation of a new document is chosen.
Thanks for this, however, Word will show the differences in 'compare to' functions; however, side-by-side comparison of Excel must be done by reading & comparing cell information, correct?
