This has worked for me 4 times in a row. Maybe if you always close with the red button it will always launch? Having same issue as others, MacBook running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and BN Nook Reader 3.0.0fc9774. Generally freezes during startup.
I'm not often jealous of Android users, since I switched to iOS, but the ability to grab stuff off the filesystem easily so you can de-DRM your books officially makes me jealous.:) Other than that things are OK in iOS-world. Once you've got a de-DRmed ePUB, you can add it to your iBooks on one machine and it's available on all of them, stuff like that. And of course, you can do a similar thing with your de-DRMed books on the Kindle. But de-DRMing them in the first place! De-DRMing your own legally purchased books! That's the rub. Luckily it's still possible to get them out of the Kindle app on the Mac, so I'm cool with Amazon.

From the library page, I see a button to download the content (1 title at a time). I have Adobe Digital Editions installed since I side-load books from our local library as well, and it does see the epub files, but gives an error (“Document is licensed for a different user account”), therefore I am unable to read them. Can i add password protection with adobe reader mac for free. It’s also worth noting that I cannot open Nook epub files with any reader that I’ve tried, but that’s no surprise with B&N DRM. Someday my hope is that DRM will become a thing of the past, but that’s beyond the scope of this comment.
Also, downloads take forever. Kindle books, even illustrated ones, are ready to go in under a minute, usually in fifteen seconds or less. This thing is taking two to five per book, occasionally longer. Is it because it is updating all those stupid preview samples in the store first? It sounds silly, but when you are in a hurry to leave and the app has taken all the books off yet again, it adds to the frustration considerably to have to stand there and wait for the download to finish. If one spends money on an ebook to read, they should own it straight out and be able to read it in whatever reading app they have and desire. These companies treat everyone like a criminal and should be just happy people are buying their products–not limiting consumers choices and creating all these bells and whistles to overcome to read an e-book. I for one will not be buying any more ebooks from any company that uses this DRM and read only on my app device strategies. I’ll buy a hard cover book first, even if it’s more money. At least I truly own it then. Thanks to Barnes and Noble taking away the ability to actually download a book that I’ve purchased, I’ll never buy another Nook book or other book from the store.
