When connecting your Mac to a wireless network, one of the first things you’ll want to do is make sure that the AirPort icon is enabled in your Menu bar. If it’s already there, please skip down to Step 5. On OS X you can manage your wireless networks; that is drag them to set preferred order, delete ones you don't want any more, etc. The only problem is that there is a tiny window which only shows ~4 networks at a time.

Use another laptop as monitor. My problem was that Windows was only showing the strongest fon but despite the reasonable signal strength there was no internet connection, possibly a broken connection between router and service provider. Inssider clearly showed that another fon signal was available but try as I might Windows would only allow me the stronger but broken connection. Very annoying, probably arising from some misguided idea that Windows knows best. When away fro home in my motorhome (RV) I use a Solwise USB Panel Aerial (antenna) to improve wifi connections. I frequently find useable BT fon connections. My solution to the problem was that when I got home I updated the Ralink driver and downloaded the Ralink Utility that goes with it. The Ralink Utility not only shows all the available wifi networks but gives you the opportunity to select and connect to any of them.

NOTE: If the network security is enabled on the router, enter the password then click Join. QUICK TIP: Check the Remember this network option if you want your Mac computer to remember the network and automatically connect to it once the computer is in range.

You can use the Wi-Fi menu to quickly connect to a nearby wireless network. • Click the Wi-Fi icon ( or ) in the menu bar. • If Wi-Fi is off, choose 'Turn Wi-Fi on.' • Select a nearby Wi-Fi network from the list. If you don't see your network listed, make sure it's nearby and that others can connect to it.

• From the list of setting categories, select About phone. Some vendors locate this category underneath some other category; this can vary from device to device.

Or press VO-R to hear the entire row read at once. Column view: To move down the list until you find the folder or file you want, use the Down Arrow key. This setting is enforced by your administrator.
